Even though Charlie Kirk and I were very much not on the same page, I have enough humanity in me to stand with him and his family today.
What’s more, it’s important for us to speak out. Whether violence is committed in your name or not, but especially if it is or might be, you must speak out.
Ten days ago, political commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, in cold blood, by a man in an act of violence, which must be condemned.
▶︎Let me be clear: the murder of Kirk was an evil act and must be condemned by all
▶︎Let me be clear: although Kirk’s rhetoric was divisive, that gave no one the right to carry out such a disgusting, vile act.
▶︎Let me be clear: irrespective of the murderer’s politics, the horrific murder of Charlie Kirk not only took away a father to two innocent children, it put every real transsexual American at greater risk.
Both can be true. Kirk’s love of debate would have him acknowledging that if he could be with us today. However, we don’t have that luxury.
Understandably, his widow is angry and upset with the left for a rather callous reaction to his murder. If I were here, I’d be angry, too.
To Mrs. Kirk, if she were to read this, please accept my sincerest condolences and, also, my apologies for callousness shown by any LGBT/pro-LGBT people. As a Christian, I will continue to pray for you and your family.
Political violence, no matter the target, is incompatible with the spirit of our country. Borne of war and struggle, the very purpose of the ultimate sacrifice made by so many, including my family going back to the thirteen colonies, was to forge a country of the rule of law and the same freedoms for all citizens equally.
The majority of trans people are neither seen nor heard. That is, we’re not ghosts. You just don’t know we’re trans.
From day one (me, over 6 years ago) our goals has been to blend in, not make anyone uncomfortable, and just go about my life, hopefully find a husband (he would know, duh) maybe adopt a kid or help raise his if we got a surrogate.
Why am I not worried about a bathroom ban? Because no one would know! Why? I didn’t dare set foot in a women’s bathroom until my mom, my sisters, and literally every actual female I knew somewhat closely (including Republicans) said it was okay for me to do so. Most of us do that.
But guess what? We’re not nonbinary. We’re not “they/them.” We didn’t pay tens of thousands of dollars we earned to have surgeries and medical treatments to be asked by a purple-haired counselor what our “pronouns”are.
Those clowns we all laugh at online need help. The loud insanity from a very tiny minority has now go us our rights taken away, and literally endangered all of our lives. If the psychopath who killed Kirk was on the left, then, I hope he he not only committed an evil act, he actually hurt the thing he thought he would be helping. What an evil fool.
While I know better than to align myself entirely with the right, because even as a Christian who fits in, at the end they will still see me as a sinner who must pay a price. As a Christian, my Lord and Savior calls for
But, in this moment
Because it came to this
Because to innocent babies had their daddy taken from them
Because a beautiful wife has to look at the empty side of the bed at night
Because no one should die because they exercised the freedom of speech
Because America is on the brink
Because I have a human soul—
—in this moment, I stand for Charlie Kirk.
Dear Lord, please take care of Mr. Kirk as you would any of your creatures. Please, heal this country somehow. From one extreme, to another is what we’ve done I’m afraid. Whatever I can do to help, Lord, I am your servant. Amen.
